I love a beautiful morning
“There was never a night or problem that could defeat sunrise or hope.” Bernard Williams
For you who are morning people I think you will enjoy this. For those of you who are not, or consider getting up at 11:00 am early well, maybe I can give you some insight to the “morning” crowd.
Since I was 12 years old and picking radishes I had to get up early. And no, at 12 I wasn’t a fan believe me. But as I got older and the jobs I had required me to get me to get up at 5:00am I slowly became a convert. For the past 30 years I would consider myself a full fledged morning guy.
Why you ask? There are a lot of reasons but let’s start with the piece and quiet of the morning. I love being the first one up and I all I hear is the birds chirping. I have great memories of my uncle taking me camping. He and I would be up before everyone making coffee and getting breakfast started on those old coleman stoves. I was just a kid but I felt something so peaceful in my heart being the first one up.
As for being up early, I love the quiet time to read, pray or just talk to God. Something about the peace of a morning that let’s me hear His voice better. The early mornings are also a great time for using my imagination. I get more ideas for my blog, for work, for almost anything in my life in the morning.
Remember that Navy commercial? “We get more done before 9:00am than most people do all day.” I love it!
Ever been in the garden on a beautiful summer morning when the dew is still on the plants and grass? The sun is just starting to come over the horizon? The peace and quiet of the moments is indescribable. How about grabbing a cup of coffee and walking outside and the sky is turning orange and the promise of a great day lies ahead?
I think us morning people just have an energy about us that let’s us get so much done bright and early. Do I get up early on vacation? You bet! Have you ever been on a beach in Maui and found yourself the only one there and the sun begin begins to rise? It is one of my most favorite things to do. The peace and serenity that comes over me is truly a religious experience. I am at ease, at peace and at a joy that I don’t find anywhere else.
For those of you who are not “morning” people, try it for a week. I think you will be amazed how much you can get done in the morning. If nothing else, enjoy the sound of silence…
